I would like the job quitting to signify a new age of idleness. After countless lifetimes of debilitating labor, maybe we can finally enjoy the rewards of science and technology and meaningful lives instead of drudgery.

Jobs are disappearing because everything can be produced with less and less labor. We can have all the food, shelter, medical care and energy we need—all of us—without the stupid archaic 40 hour workweeks or the passé economic systems of socialism and capitalism which were designed to allocate resources in situations of scarcity.

Scarcity is over. It’s the 21st century. Let’s live!
