I’m a web designer. One of Philadelphia’s first web designers. I started in 1994. Working for a client to develop a website is NOT speech. There is creativity but it is not speech. And there’s less creativity than you might think—you are serving a paying customer.

None of the Justices are web designers. One CAN develop websites using creativity and exercising speech. But those sites are not for customers. Whether or not you think this person should be able to deny service to that client, it shouldn’t be on the basis of creativity.

Personally, I think the intention of the whole thing isn’t any kind of freedom of expression. This person can speak out against gays all she wants. This is about PUNISHING people she (and people like her) don’t like. As everyone knows, Jesus never spoke out against gays—only against moneylenders. I think these people who claim to be Christians need to cite the clear words in the Bible that justify their hatred.

Otherwise, you can say ANYTHING at all is a deeply held Christian belief.
