I’m not big on predictions. As Yogi Berra said: predictions are difficult. Especially about the future. ;-)
Of course, we are already seeing climate collapse and it will only get worse. And it does seem to be accelerating. So, I tend to agree with you. It will probably be much worse than people think and it’ll probably happen quite soon.
And yes, we are also probably in for a big population drop. Which is a gentle way of saying a massive amount of death.
But that said, I’m less interested in predicting the future than in MAKING the future.
I feel quite certain that there are billion or more people who love their children and respect Nature and, if they weren’t crushed by despair and anxiety and a feeling of powerlessness, would resist the forces and rules and authorities that protect fossil fuel companies and abuse the planet.
And I aim to reach out to them and harness their collective power to overwhelm the current power structure, not just in the United States, but also in China, Russia, Europe and EVERYWHERE to put climate scientists in charge of a gigantic all out emergency program to truly meet the crisis.
Clearly, a whole lot of permanent damage and suffering is unavoidable but I want us to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to minimize the damage going forward.
In my view, giving up and letting this collapse happen without making a genuine effort would be an unforgivable moral failing. Letting this happen is insane.
