It's a waste of time to speculate on people's intentions. Most of the time, people's intentions are benevolent or, at minimum, not cruel.
That said, we MUST act to address our problems where our "leaders" are failing. WE must protect the climate and our children's future. WE must ensure that AR-15s aren't available to—literally—every lunatic who wants one, or a dozen. WE must make the difference because our leaders have failed on so many fronts in such significant ways.
It's not about cynicism. It's about addressing various crises. These crisis are festering and growing and they are increasingly dangerous.
It's not about cynicism. It's about taking responsible action—in the absence of effective leadership.
