Yes, we have an entire planet that’s being gaslighted. And greenwashed. We need to tell the emperor he has no clothes. Daily.
Our leaders are fools and our media have failed. The greatest crisis and biggest news story in history is being ignored by both — the permanent destruction of the Earth.
Worse still, the leaders and media are complicit. But WE don’t need to be.
Oh, yeah. Leaders and media are paying attention and doing something. Nominally. Just enough to retain plausible denial.
Actually, not even that much. It’s obvious that leaders are looking after themselves and media are selling ads and newspapers.
Leaders and Media Aren’t That Special
For the most part, leaders in government and business and media are simply fulfilling their roles. They seek job security. They want more money and power. They behave like their peers. Media likes to report stories and climate collapse is simply one, and one that’s already old and boring to them and even to their readers.
So, it’s not about blame. I mean, yes there are some really vicious leaders. Cruel people. But unless WE follow them, support them and respect their authority, they don’t matter much. Let’s not blame them. Let’s STOP them.
Instead of following, those of us who are sane and caring and conscious should not follow. We should take control of the conversation. We should lead. We should shape events.
This is what the situation demands of us.
They Must Pay Attention to YOU
Once you no longer follow them, authorities will finally pay attention to you. But you don’t need them. They don’t DO anything. They’ve been getting by all this time by telling YOU what to do. All along, it’s YOU that’s been doing the DOING.
So, tell the truth. Tell it so directly and clearly and so frequently that the message gets across. A truth that nearly EVERYBODY knows. Because when you tell the truth, most people will see you are right. OR at least more than enough people.
This isn’t profound. We all know this. But here it is because it needs to be said:
Leaders everywhere have failed catastrophically to prevent climate collapse. In fact, they’ve steadily promoted the collapse and we are feeling the effects NOW. And it will continue to get worse as long as we continue along the path they’ve blazed. It’s a path of greed and selfishness and madness and death.
Leaders don’t actually do anything. They tell others what to do. If we refuse to do what they tell us, WE can control events. If we want a stable livable climate for our children, for all the species that share the Earth with us, and for the future, WE will need to make it happen.
We have competent and capable climate scientists who have diagnosed the problem. They have told us what we need to do. We must listen to them, to the competent experts, and then we will have a chance. We must put the climate scientists in charge of an emergency global program. We should empower young climate activists — the generation who will bear the burden of the failure of leaders and media — to work with the scientists and help guide their efforts.
We can do this. We have begun. You can join us.
There is an activist group called The Saners. We are only a small group, numbering in the hundreds today. But we have a message and a plan that will resonate with billions of people. Because it addresses people who love their children (or care about children in general) and want them to live on a habitable planet.
That’s a very large group.
We are in the process of putting together a Grand Strategy and a plan of action. We are inspired by Gandhi and King and others who successfully harnessed moral force and nonviolent action to change the world. We will soon be a movement.
We are a reaction against the insanity. Because it is insane to destroy the planet we live on.
