It’s shameful that they’ve reduced the brilliant and dynamic Martin Luther King to an annual day of service.

He was so much more than that. He would not stand for inequality and his nonviolent resistance was anything but passive. He seized the initiative and put the purveyors of racism, and violence and war on the defensive. He fought all kinds of evil, fiercely and brilliantly.

Love can be radical and the crueler the society, the more radical love is.

I am still studying him, still learning from him. He is one of my great inspirations as our group prepares to take action on the climate, and on replacing our bigoted, greedy, cruel, unsustainable and short-sighted societies, and replace them with sane and caring ones.

King didn’t run from big challenges. Those who’ve tried to steal his legacy also tried to cut him down and reshape his legacy.

They’ve failed. We know what he did and therefore know what we must do.
We must end the insanity with a radical unstoppable love that seizes control and harnesses the good in people everywhere.
