The obsessive focus on “the economy” — which is a code phrase for “maximizing the wealth of the ultra-rich” is ridiculous and increasingly irrelevant.
To listen to political and business “leaders” (sic), you’d think that the bottom line for every activity, policy and action is maximizing their personal wealth and power. Nothing else matters.
If saving Nature, our children, and civilization itself is not profitable — well, we can’t afford it and we must let it go. That’s the actual position, an unquestioned assumption, that underlies most of the talk about “climate change” — which is another code word used to soft-peddle the hell on Earth we are beginning to experience right now. The phrase is designed to provide cover for the criminals who are guilty of causing this “change.”
The self-assurance (I’d say “hubris”) of these wealthy and powerful people, purported “leaders,” is sitting on very shaky ground. Just as it is with a hammer — everything looks like a nail to a hammer — so it is with people consumed by greed and their own unearned sense of greatness, that everything is centered on wealth. Money is not just the most important thing. It is THE ONLY thing.
People are “human resources.” The Earth is “raw materials” and also an open pit toilet. Everything — human beings, Nature, the Earth itself — all exist for the personal…
