I’ve started a movement (The Saners) and I’ve been studying the history of movements. I’ve noticed the trend. One of the reasons we see more women leading is, I believe, that barriers to entry are lower in movements than in regular official entities.
Optics is one benefit and I think women may (on average) have better social skills and therefore inspire more followers.
But that doesn’t explain the extraordinary Greta Thunberg who has autism.
Overall, I’m most impressed with the involvement and accomplishments of young movement leaders. I get excited by the energy young people bring, by the natural leadership skills of women and the world changing influence of artists of all kinds.
At least that’s how things look to this ordinary unimpressive but determined old man. ;-)
