John, we have a way forward. We will not waste our time or energy engaging with failed leaders or their foolish proponents.

If you think about it, you will realize that the people who recognize the crisis, the sane people, the people who love their children and our Earth—they number in the BILLIONS. The leaders who are speeding us to extinction are in the thousands. WE can easily overwhelm them. WE can put climate scientists in charge of a worldwide emergency program to deal with the crisis. WE can commit to empowering our children to save the planet that THEY will inherit.

We need to focus on PEOPLE LIKE OURSELVES—and they are everywhere across the planet. We need to FIND THE OTHERS, and help them to realize they are not alone, not helpless, not doomed.

We SEEM doomed because, up until now, we saw our only hope as getting our leaders to do the right thing. We vote, we protest but nothing worked. So, we collapsed into pessimism, into despair.

But to change things, we need to and CAN disobey the system, reject our leaders, not wait for their elections, not seek their approval. We can overwhelm them with our numbers, with our love for our children, with our deep respect for Nature, and our utter contempt for those who would destroy them.

And they will flee. Like other despots and fools and dictators have fled before when the people reject them. Failed leaders and systems and empires. Like the old Soviet Union. The Berlin Wall. The Shah of Iran. Mubarak. Dictators in Czechoslovakia and Romania.

The powerful are WEAK and HELPLESS without widespread obedience and active support. Most are impotent old men. They cannot possibly defeat us once we decide to act.

We are working on exactly this. We must find and energize the others. That’s the first step. Join us.
