A cloud of doom hangs over us. We face a terminal crisis. Our “leaders” systematically evade this reality. In fact, they willfully accelerate our rush to mutual doom.
They think they are running things. They believe they are in control. In their view — and perhaps ours — they are winning. With long faces and furrowed brows, we examine our situation and our choices.
Some of us are too tired physically and emotionally to do anything. We may acknowledge the crisis, but do nothing about it. After all, what can we do?
Some of us speak out, angrily, at the leaders and their failures. This group votes for the better leader — like good citizens — and hopes for the best. Their votes change nothing. Even when a majority of voters make the right choice — like American voters did in 2000 by selecting a committed climate activist as president — the system of doom still gets its way. We end up with the fossil fuel promoter.
Then there are the passionate activists. They DO things. They try. Hard. They see no alternative . They can’t pretend that the crisis isn’t critical and urgent. Most of all, they can’t see why nearly everyone isn’t actively supporting them.
Is everyone blind? Crazy?
