Katie—this is SO on target. I think the whole world is ass backwards and American culture and systems—especially the economic system—is sick.

Think about it. It puts MONEY ahead of LIFE. So, we continue working in a fossil fuel economy decades after being warned to STOP burning them or suffer severe consequences.

To my view, work that’s focused on maximizing shareholder value or your bosses’ wealth HAS LESS THAN ZERO VALUE.

The “work ethic” is a system of “work to destroy your children’s planet before they grow up, dooming them.”

It doesn’t get any sicker than that.

And we sell our time—which is literally OUR LIVES—for the privilege of doing this.

We need to stop producing the mountains of commodified shiny crap we make—this is destroying the planet. This is literally insane.

We should produce ONLY what’s needed—food, shelter, medicine, and a couple more things—which should take less than 20 hours a week.

We should stop accumulating stuff and start enjoying time, Nature (or what’s left of it) and each other’s company.

THAT is actual life. Work is bullcrap.

Let’s slow down the work and save the Earth.
