Learning To Focus on What’s Urgent

In the decades since the climate crisis began, it has never received sustained focus and emergency action STILL hasn’t been taken. We must defy “authorities” and media and keep a steady spotlight on climate collapse and the total failure of “leaders” everywhere.

I look at the paper and see a bunch of stories, today’s headlines, and yawn. Another war, a new trend, the travails of some celebrity. A bit about the economy and perhaps an obituary.

Sometimes there’s a story about the climate. When it’s there, it’s just one among many stories of the day. It’s not reported as the existential crisis that’s about to devastate all the creatures that inhabit the Earth — which is exactly what it IS.

Without actual serious meaningful and speedy action, climate collapse is the end of the world we knew, and the start of an eternal hellscape.

Looking at media today, it’s as if a nuclear war or an incoming asteroid is just another story. Ho, hum.

But that attitude is insanity. By making a huge crisis “routine,” we essentially support and welcome the destruction of the planet our children will inherit. We support mass death, floods, draughts, killer storms, and worse — and empower greedy fools to turn our beautiful planet into a boiled dead world.
