Why should bigots have all the fun?
Right wing zealots have set up, infamously, fake women’s healthcare facilities which are really designed to badger women into giving birth to children they don’t want. It’s a wicked bait and switch but I can’t help but admire the chutzpah.
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so the forced birthers inspired me to develop another sneaky idea: fake churches. These fake churches, like the phony women’s health centers, would be focused on a clever bait and switch.
For example, instead of promoting hatred of foreigners and brown people, instead of feeding anger and inciting violence, instead of forgiving pedophilia within the church, our fake churches would — get this! — preach the teachings of Jesus Christ!
Clever huh?
I mean, can you imagine churches (ok, fake churches) that repeated Jesus command to love one another? That taught the parable of the Good Samaritan and encouraged us to be kind to “the other”? Imagine that this church, instead of condemning the poor and insisting they are lazy, encouraged us to feed the hungry? A church that told us to be caring and loving and considerate and thoughtful? To heal the sick instead of denying them healthcare?
Don’t laugh. I’m serious. Yes, it sounds outrageous and impossible, but…
