Another smart politician made stupid by greed and ideology
The governor of Louisiana knows better. Jeff Landry holds a B.A. in science focused on environmental and sustainable resources. He minored in biology.
He’s smart enough to understand what caused the conditions that wiped out huge numbers of crawfish and devastated the state’s significant crawfish industry. He wants to help that industry and get those crawfish back. They are, he notes, critical to the people’s way of life down there.
Landry is a fool — a destructive one.
Landry is a climate denier. But I bet deep down he knows that the climate is being destroyed, in large part, by the oil industry which is probably bigger in his state than even crawfish. In his ridiculous thinking, there is a crawfish emergency, but not a climate one.
Extreme weather — the same record breaking heat that we haven’t seen in 120,000 years— is damaging all 365,000 crawfish acres in Louisiana. The crawfish are dying because of what Landry has called a hoax. He’s addressed the climate issue by filling the state’s environmental posts with fossil fuel executives.
