I was never ambitious in the traditional sense.
I’ve never been ambitious as one views ambition in the modern world. Well, maybe for short periods of time. Let call those moments “temporary insanity.”
But really, what IS the American Dream? As George Carlin said, we call it the American Dream because you’d need to be asleep to believe in it. My dad inadvertently immunized me to that ridiculous dream. He demonstrated with his life that pursuing wealth through hard work is folly. You just grow old, tired and cynical. I decided early on to skip all that, and went on with my life — eyes open.
Money is for people who were born with it — and a few who stumble on it. I say that as someone who (inadvertently) made some decent money. I never worked as hard as my father, but I ended up with a lot more. But more money doesn’t interest me — I’m interested in more life. And the pursuit of wealth makes you lifeless, with only adrenaline to keep you going.
I’m not one for the quick fix. The endless pursuit of more money, more fame, and more power means less than nothing to me. My ambition is much, much bigger than that petty crap.

I’d like to do something really huge.
