My Climate Campaign: If The Leaders Took Actual Meaningful Action, I’d Stop
I’m not interested in being a climate activist. But I can’t ignore what’s happening.
My climate writing, podcasts and activities may look like labors of love. I may seem to be enjoying them. And, indeed, I try to enjoy them.
But I’m really making lemonade out of lemons. I’m not even interested in the climate. I’m interested in the arts, in storytelling. I’m interested in people, the odd things they do, the entire human adventure.
What I want to do is write stories that make people think and feel differently, that stretch imaginations. I want to make cartoons. I want to put things in the world that I’d like to see and hear and experience.
Frankly, I can’t stop myself from doing those things. I need to do them. Creating things is what gives my life meaning. But I now feel compelled to make a large portion of those things I create about climate. It takes a lot of the fun out of it.
Still, I try like hell to make my climate activities fun. I see two imperatives: to enjoy life and to save life. Either of them alone is simply insufficient.
