Why should we be loyal to governments, corporations or any other failed institutions?
I’ve got a sign in my window from the ACLU that says “Dissent Is Patriotic.” This kind of makes sense for an organization like the ACLU. It brings a fight for human rights to the institutions that threaten them. And the ACLU works through the political system.
It’s a valiant but losing battle. I support them, but recognize the limitations of their approach. We have a government that is bought and paid for and, in fact, to some degree the same is true for every government on Earth.
There is a public private partnership, with corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals providing the money, and governments acting as paid enforcers, that is destroying the habitability of our planet for power and profit. This duo is the stupidest force on the planet.
They are committing the most extensive murder/suicide in history. And they know it. But they’re so good at compartmentalization (a nice euphemism for “idiocy”) that they do it anyway.
