In a recent case, 5 protesters from Just Stop Oil were thrown into prison for blocking a highway. The judge called their actions “an unprecedented level of deliberate disruption."
Meanwhile, 11 protesters outside the courtroom who were merely holding signs were arrested for allegedly disrupting the proceedings. Charges were dropped—after removing them from the premises.
The protesters who were on trial were convicted and sentenced to between 4 and 5 years in jail.
