Amy Coney Barrett’s pathetic defense only highlights what we all know
Words matter and just as I now refer to “climate change” — which makes a planet destroying crisis sound mild — as climate catastrophe (more accurate), I will be referring to the right-wing ideologues on the SCOTUS as “partisan hacks.”
Thank you Amy Coney Barrett for calling attention to a term that describes you and several of your colleagues so accurately and so succinctly.
First, let’s talk about obvious hypocrisy. We all know that Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh and other conservatives were put on the SCOTUS to repeal Roe and that all of them lied about their positions to get approved. We have heard some of them talk about the importance of stare decisis and say that Roe was settled law — positions which they now (conveniently) dismiss.
Sometimes I console myself that, at least, there are slightly more women on the SCOTUS than sexual abusers. That’s rather pathetic.
Let’s be clear about what the outcome of the inevitable gutting of Roe will be — poor women will suffer and die while wealthy women will travel to non-slave states. (Women who can’t control their own bodies are slaves; let’s not sugar coat this. In fact, subjugation of women is the true aim of the “Christians” who have made their religion the law.)
But bigger things are happening. Regardless of what the noisiest people say — and what gets official attention is decided by the wealthy and their media and propagandists — the status quo is losing control.
People are refusing low wages and abuse at work — by the millions. People increasingly recognize that their votes don’t count, that politicians serve only the ultra wealthy plutocrats who purchased them. People recognize that their tax dollars are going by the trillions to the undeserving rich and that the people — those who do the work AND pay taxes and don’t park their millions in overseas tax shelters — are screwed every time. And, even the SCOTUS recognizes that everyone sees them for what they are — partisan hacks — and tries in vain to defend their (well-deserved) rotten reputations as rapists, theocrats and hypocrites.
But the biggest change will be the collapse of civilization as the petro-plutocrats “succeed” in continuing to pump out oil for profit, dooming their own grandchildren and turning the Earth into a burnt near-lifeless cinder.
That is, unless the vast majority of humans — the billions of underlings who actually love their children and care about the Earth — seize control and overthrow our cruel and incompetent overlords first. And that is what we must do.
Sorry Justice Roberts — for all your flaws (and you are a consummate champion of the plutocracy) — you tried to save the reputation of the court. You can’t. They are partisan hacks. We all know.
The lie is exposed and we will call it what it is.
SCOTUS = partisan hacks
Please repeat this every time the SCOTUS comes up for discussion. Let’s withdraw unearned respect. It’s the least we could do.
