Yes, it’s bad and you’ve been told it will get worse.
So, everyone was shocked when toxic orange smoke settled over New York City. The heat dome baking Texas and Arizona and so much of the country was another shock.
No matter how much advance warning people get or how well-researched the scientific reports, people are always shocked.
I’ve lost patience with your shock. If you believe in global warming (and don’t give me that shit that “global warming” is the wrong term — not hot enough for you yet? — just wait!), you didn’t expect it to be something you’d experience personally. It’s something that’ll happen decades from now, and in some country you don’t care about like Pakistan.
And why should you care about people in Pakistan? Or about your own children’s suffering, after you are dead?
That’s the self-deception of the believers. Then there are the pragmatists — yes, we have climate problems but we can’t do anything about it. We can’t stop fossil fuels and, in fact, we need more. We’ll fix this problem with growth and technology.
