the Court and the entire credibility of the U.S. government is on the way out — this was their choice
As expected, the SCOTUS repealed Roe v. Wade today, allowing the Red States to prosecute women and doctors for performing abortions as of the moment of conception. Many states will make it illegal even in cases of rape, incest or when the pregnancy endangers the life of the mother.
This is a religious ruling, an act of legislating from the bench, and an act of cowardly hypocrisy by judges who, to get on the bench, lied and said they considered Roe v. Wade to be settled law.
In some ways we are at the end of the road. Just as Roe v. Wade protected women for 50 years, this ruling by the Court will make women prey to religious bigots and other misogynists for the next 50. Similarly, it’s hard to imagine what else this court could do to facilitate gun proliferation by paranoid, angry gun addicts who shoot innocent people routinely in our country — and our country alone.
