Really? Convicted of what? He has already been convicted of several civil offenses. I don't know whether or not he'll be convicted of anything else before November. But he's got something like 90 charges against him.

I personally doubt that this Supreme Court would rule him ineligible to serve although judicial scholars on both the left and right say that the 14th amendment clearly makes him ineligible.

Keep in mind that, although for some reason it's never mentioned in the press, disqualification from office doesn't even require that you were materially involved in an insurrection: you are ineligible even if you merely provided aid or comfort to insurrectionists. So, in fact, more than 100 people currently serving in Federal offices are serving illegally. As are many hundred of state officials nationwide.

And yes, the 14th amendment was written to address exactly the kind of actions we witnessed on January 6th. That's simply the fact. You can read the words of the amendment and the discussions that were held at the time. During those discussions, it was specifically and directly stated that the amendment DOES apply to presidents as well as other officials.

There's a small chance that the SCOTUS could rule—properly—that Trump IS ineligible for office, if they decide they'd like to retain what small shred of credibility it has left. After all the scandals and the fact that this group LITERALLY has no ethics.

I personally doubt they'll do the right thing, but I bet Roberts is really unhappy with this court—because HIS name is on it.

Trump may win. Or he may lose. He could even lose big. That people aren't happy with Biden right now—many months before elections day—is pretty damn insignificant. Far more people are unhappy with Trump. And women—who have not forgotten Trump's leading role in repealing Roe v. Wade—are mad as hell. As they should be.

So, yeah, there is some enormous danger and everything could turn out badly. We should each do our part to block Trump.

That's first. Trump is a clear and present danger.

But we will also need to fight a 2nd Biden administration for it's failure on the climate.

Nature doesn't play politics. Nature is, politically speaking, very unrealistic. HOWEVER, in the battle between politicians and businessmen and Nature Herself, only Nature can win.

If we love our children and want to preserve our planet, we must bring down the entire fossil fuel industry. Oil and gas and coal are doomsday weapons. They are toxins that are choking the planet, killing off thousands of species. Left unchecked—and our political and economic systems worldwide have always protected the fossil fuel industry—we are doomed.

But it's insane to let the fossil fuel or anyone destroy this beautiful planet for (imaginary) personal gain.

We won't let that happen. We are Saners.
