To save the planet, we will need to talk with opponents, not shout at enemies.

The important and famous misquote of Gandhi, how we need to be the change we wish to see int the world, holds true even if the Indian sage never quite said that. He embodied that sentiment and would have agreed.

I’ve been trying to initiate a new and different and effective movement to end climate abuse and put climate experts — qualified and competent scientists — in charge of a planet-wide emergency program. The plan is to protect the Earth’s environment and keep it habitable for future generations.

I’ve concluded that our current leaders and systems and cultures and institutions are incapable of doing this, and would resist — after all, determined INaction has been the real world behavior for 35+ years since NASA scientist James Hansen’s public warning about the crisis.

The movement ultimately requires us to disobey current leaders and institutions, and implement the required changes over their objections. Unless we win them over.

The Objective Is Success

If we had a gigantic international protest tomorrow, with hundreds of millions of people in the streets in more than 100 countries, but nothing changed substantially, I’d consider the action and the movement a failure. This is…
