We can be together.

I’m trying to make rescuing the Earth from petro-profiteers a pleasant, even joyful experience. Yes, the climate crisis is deadly serious and our efforts must be full-throttle. But we don’t need to change the world with furrowed brows and long faces.

We’ve seen joy before in movements aimed at making the world a better place. Occupy Wall Street was full of imagination and fun and creativity and art. Yeah, detractors focused on a few a-holes that were not typical of that beautiful effort. And yes, I know that Occupy didn’t achieve its objectives (in part because it didn’t specify its objectives), but it still offered us useful lessons.

Joy is one of them.

The revolution that removed communism from Czechoslovakia was joyful, non-violent, and creative. It ousted a dictator and a sclerotic system without firing a shot.

The 1969 anthem by Jefferson Airplane titled “We Can Be Together” is also defiantly joyful. More than 50 years old, it feels fresh and alive to me even now. I post it here to inspire YOU.

The Change Required Isn’t Simply Replacing Fossil Fuels With Clean Energy. It’s Much Bigger…
