Right Wingers Don’t Have A Problem With Liberals. They Have A Problem With Jesus Christ.
You can’t claim the authority of Jesus while rejecting all of His teachings.
Rght wingers (and the MAGA crowd) blame liberals and minorities for everything. There’s a giant worldwide conspiracy against them and they are victims…of doctors with vaccines, of immigrants crossing the border, of climate scientists, and of gays and trans people.
Everybody is against them. Except the creator of the universe, the lord God Jesus Christ.
Jesus belongs to them. And under His authority and with His assistance, the right wingers — God’s people — will make it all right.
There’s only one problem — MAGA and right-wingers are using Jesus’ good name in vain. They reject every one of His most important teachings while using His name to justify their anger, their bigotry, their lust for violence, their greed, and their cowardice.
What Jesus Taught
Jesus never said a word about abortion or guns. He never told anyone to hate, fear or be cruel to immigrants. Indeed, he preached exactly the opposite in his Parable of the Good Samaritan. MAGAs and right wing (alleged) Christians forcefully reject Him.
They also reject other teachings by Jesus, notably love thy neighbor, love your enemies, and turn the other cheek. Oh, and that part about he who is without sin may throw the first stone.
In fact, it’s difficult to see anywhere that these (truly preposterous and fake) Christians in any way reflect the way of Christ. All they do is hijack His good name.
The truth is, left wingers — including atheists — are much more in line with Jesus’ teachings than those who most loudly proclaim their dedication to Him.
Selfishness and Greed and Violence
MAGA and (most) evangelical values are the exact opposite of Jesus’ Christian values.
He was praised as the prince of peace. He opposed killing. He told people to sell their possessions and follow him. The MAGAs worship guns and, quite literally the golden (okay, actually “orange”) fatted calf. MAGAs do not subscribe to the precept “thou shalt not kill.” They…
