If you think that’s hard, try living on a dying Earth.
A whole bunch of people want you to give up in advance. Saving the Earth from climate destruction is just too hard, they say. We can’t do it.
Bullshit.
Here’s who wants you to believe that and why:
- The fossil fuel industry and their lackeys — politicians on the take, lobbyists, along with certain think tanks, ad agencies, and pundits. They want you to give up because, for them, destroying the Earth and everyone on it is profitable.
- The Discouraged. This is a more sympathetic group. They believe we are too late, or that people are too greedy or stupid, or that we’d need our leaders to change and they never will. Some of them think we deserve what we are getting. They believe this because either they’ve been convinced by fossil fuel industry propagandists, or they are simply too beaten down to have any hope left.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting that fixing a damaged planet or forcing and end to fossil fuels or doing the other necessary things is easy. It’s hard. But NOT “too hard.”
Something can be considered too hard if:
- It simply cannot be done, or
- It isn’t worth the effort to do it.
