Scientists and engineers are the competent people who KNOW things. They are always ignored or overruled by the really stupid people who seem to end up in positions of authority. Thus, managers sent the Challenger astronauts to die over the objections of NASA engineers. Stupid plutocrats and ultra-wealthy oil profiteers overruled climate scientists and are finishing off destroying the habitability of the planet. And, of course, engineers were ousted from Boeing leadership and idiotic beancounters built a fatally-flawed 737 MAX to help the bottom line—and kill passengers, as collateral damage.

They are all insane and we are all insane for going along with them. Until now.
