Should Alabama Put Fetuses on Trial For Murder?

The Supreme Court of the State of Alabama recognizes zygotes as children. Well, many of those “children” kill their moms.

As the old joke goes, I’ll believe that a corporation is a person when Texas executes one.

The Alabama Supreme Court has recognized the unborn as children, making those who destroy zygotes murderers.

In Alabama, one of every 2,400 pregnancies results in the death of the mother. Since Alabama now recognizes unborn children as children — as people — then some of these children are responsible for death. Consistency requires that they be held legally liable.

Is that crazy? Yes. But no crazier than treating mom as a murderer for trying to stay alive when challenged by a toxic zygote.

Of course, many unborn children are killed by Nature. Or if you believe that God is in charge, then He’s been killing them. We call these deaths miscarriages. Alabama has the 4th highest fetal mortality rate in the country. Miscarriages happen there a lot.

The Court didn’t depend on the law to make its decision, although it affirmed the legality of the new Wrongful Death of a Minor Act. But this legal case was justified on religious grounds.
