Introducing a new approach to empowering ordinary people to bring about the changes necessary to repair the Earth
Last night, we held the first ever “Virtual Climate Party.”
A small group of us met online last night to socialize and discuss the climate — and what WE can do about it. This was a friendly group, but also one that was very interested in getting down to business. I was a bit surprised because I expected the first event to be a little more awkward and halting.
It was better than I expected it to be.
I don’t want to name any of the participants — certainly not without their permission — but I can tell you about the group in general terms. All of them were mature adults, probably into middle age or older. I’m 65. They were affable but also serious — they clearly had been thinking about the climate and what to do about it for a long time.
This wouldn’t qualify as a wild party — it had the feel of a genial wine and cheese event. That said, the passion and imagination and determination of the group to GET SOMETHING DONE was clearly evident.
I sipped espresso and had a mocha pot nearby. One other participant drank…water. I invited people to bring their vice of choice to these events, but like me, these participants seemed to have…
