Spreading Climate Love at Philadelphia’s Love Park

Quiet climate vigils at sunset. Contemplation and sharing a vision to save the Earth’s climate for our children.

I firmly believe that most parents love their children and desperately want them to live on a habitable Earth. In fact, I think the number of people who recognize the climate crisis and care deeply numbers well over a billion people.

A billion people are — potentially — a force to be reckoned with. An unstoppable force.

Here’s the problem. These billion people think they are alone and that they are powerless. Many of us think WE know that there is a deadly climate emergency that requires immediate action, and that everybody else is asleep. But we are mistaken. In fact, a huge number of people understand and feel exactly the same way.

As long as each sane and caring person believes that nobody else understands or cares, nothing will change. How do we end this lonely illusion and the resulting inability to take effective action?

By making our numbers visible. By publicly sharing our common experience, watching sunsets silently together. By standing for a few moments and declaring that we WILL act, that failed leaders must step down, and that emergency action, led by climate scientists, must begin immediately.

This will all begin in September (dates to be announced) in Love Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with an ongoing series of climate vigils. This is just the start. We hope to inspire similar climate vigils and public readings of A Climate Declaration everywhere.

Please stay tuned. Dates will appear here: https://aclimatedeclaration.com/
