There are many people who blame capitalism for our climate crisis — they’re not wrong, but they aren’t entirely right either. There’s plenty of blame to go around. No country or corporation anywhere has led the way to meet the challenge of climate collapse. Indeed both corporations and countries have led us to the deadly precipice upon which we are now perched.

We cannot depend on them to save us — not by winning elections, not by persuasion and perhaps not even by applying pressure. We must overwhelm elites and make them irrelevant. We must impose a solution to the climate crisis without their approval.

Of course, this seems impossible for two reasons.
