Thank you Dr. Pine. I think one reason that people don't understand or believe scientists is because they find it incomprehensible that anyone could do work without primarily focusing on maximizing their personal income.

Few people do work that is meaningful and genuinely fascinating and challenging. Most people cannot understand that such a thing is possible. So they doubt your motives and assume that accumulating wealth and power must be behind science.

People under a system that rewards greed and selfishness and productivity (mostly of toxins and ecocidal crap) have a very negative view of human nature. Scientists are naturally NOT trusted because they seem to defy human nature.

In fact, any activity that isn't pursued for money is generally dismissed as a hobby. But, in fact, it is life that is meaningful and worthwhile. And motivations like curiosity are the true essence of humanity.

More of us need to realize this, to speak out, to refuse to cooperate with any system, rule, norm or law that abuses humanity, abuses the planet, and demeans people by treating them as merely human resources, valuable only insofar as they produce wealth...for those who stand atop this ridiculous pyramid.

Many, MANY of us respect science and reject the insanity that's destroying the biosphere. We understand that our society, our suicidal and ecocidal society is literally insane. We are banding together, we will not cooperate with this insanity, we will demand a complete uncompromising emergency program, led by climate scientists, to stabilize the climate. We will reject abuse of people and Nature. We value LIFE and not THINGS.
