I always loved Margaret Hamilton. Although, yes, I was terrified of the Wicked Witch when I saw the Wizard of Oz on TV as a kid.

As it happens, I worked for Sesame Street in the 1980s. And, yeah, I knew Big Bird! (Carroll Spinney). Also, I actually got to see Margaret Hamilton perform on stage back in 1978. She appeared in a Shaw play, The Devil's Disciple, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. I found an article about that production here:

She was brilliant on stage! Her comic timing was perfect! I'm a big theatre fan, but to this day that is one of my 3 best memories of the theatre.
