I think there is much to admire about the Constitution but as citizens I think we still need to make our own judgements.

The Constitution is an impressive but not perfect document. It did, after all, accept slavery.

Also, the founders were only human. Some of their judgements were good. Some less so.

Furthermore, the Constitution was a negotiated agreement. It was, the delegates typically thought, the best they could do.

As for what the founders intended, founders had different intentions. And many founders changed there views over time.
