That is a fallacious argument—but one for which I feel great sympathy. This is a rational fear.

But we have this fear due to a lack of imagination. We CAN and MUST sharply slash the use of fossil fuels. We CAN do this while limiting the damage by combining a sharp cut in overall production—how much unimportant crap do we produce?—and focus a limited clean energy supply on producing food, medicine and other essentials. And we need a Universal Basic Income to ensure that all the people no longer doing this useless work can live decent lives.

We think we have no choices because the authorities promote only discussions that help them and ridicule and dismiss ideas that help our species and Nature as a whole.

It is literally insane to destroy the planet we live on. And chemistry and physics don’t give a crap about our “economy.”

Let’s get real before it’s too late. And too late is fast approaching.
