The 2nd amendment protects a very limited right—the right to bear arms WITHIN THE CONTEXT of a well-regulated militia. This was meant to make it easy for the States to quickly raise a standing army in a country that, at the time, had a standing army of only 800 soldiers.
Any mention of the 2nd amendment that doesn’t clearly state how limited that right is distorts the meaning.
This kid is promulgated by many, including by the SCOTUS. Any ruling expanding the meaning of the 2nd amendment must be reversed.
