The author is correct about there being no Constitutional wall of separation between church and state. That said, words on money and friezes isn’t meaningful evidence that the founders intended religion to play a significant role in the public sphere.
Certainly Washington and Jefferson were dubious (at best) about religion’s “role” in government. Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen were even less enthusiastic about religion.
It’s 2021, the founders are dead, we have a Constitution and now WE need to make judgements and decisions.
