The author is largely right—our civilization is failing to act to save our species from a self-inflicted wound that has us currently rushing towards extinction. And it does not look good.
At the same time, I think he’s too confident in predicting the future which isn’t written yet. We can still oust those in charge and empower scientists and engineers who might be able to save us. This could happen, for example, as a mass public uprising spurred on by some climate event that kills 20 million people over night. Or even the first dramatic climate event of mass death won’t change anything.
The point is, right now nobody knows. The future isn’t decided.
