The climate scientists are telling the truth, but the nature of science is to be cautious. For that reason, they aren't (for the most part) screaming about the worse case scenarios, even though it looks not unlikely that we may actually face the worst case scenarios.
We DO know that fossil fuel profiteers have been included in the IPCC and have somewhat watered down the reports. But, even so, those reports are very, very dire and (sadly) very true.
There are enough unknowns that it would be criminally irresponsible NOT to fight climate collapse with all we've got. I intend to do just that.
