Isn’t it past time that we gave up on that ridiculous charade?
I believe that the COP meetings are filled with intelligent and well-meaning people. Not EVERYONE fits that description, but a large number do. Oh, not the lobbyists and fossil fuel industry reps. And nowadays many of the top officials and organizers are oil profiteers.
But there’s a large body of sharp-minded scientists, and organizations that are truly dedicated to protecting the Earth and helping people, who attend. I appreciate those people.
But they should now turn their attention and exert their effort elsewhere. Because COP is a proven failure, a catastrophic failure, a consistent failure.
We are talking about 28 YEARS of failure.
Advisors Who’s Advice Is Never Taken
Since the first such conference, in 1995 in Berlin, the advice of scientists was ignored after every single conference. Instead of sharply and quickly slashing CO2 emissions, the world continued to EXPAND the use of oil. Conditions worsened severely since that first conference demonstrating that the leaders lacked either the ability or the will to carry out the necessary actions.
