Life itself asks you a question every moment and you cannot avoid it.
Is there a God? What does He want me to do? Some people spend their lives focused on that. But that isn’t the question that Life asks.
Why me? Some people are focused on their woes. In many cases, they have serious woes and it’s only natural that question arises. But that isn’t the question Life asks either.
How do I make more money and escape the rat race? Ah, yes, this is a powerful and compelling question. And it IS a big question that our civilization asks. Indeed, this focus is one of the key driving forces of our civilization.
But that isn’t the question that Life asks either.
No. The question that life asks is more difficult. It’s an open-ended question and, all to often, we answer it instinctively without devoting the attention and deliberation that such a weighty question actually deserves.
We live largely by rote, by habit. We sleepwalk through much of life. We feel we have few choices and look for the easiest path. We have obligations, jobs, expectations to meet and bills to pay.
And we are often very tired.
Yet, we cannot avoid the question. Life demands immediate and decisive answers to the question. That question is:
