Some nations are not emerging.
The biggest and (until now) nominally successful countries on Earth are in rapid decline. They have failed to meet the challenge of the era — the climate crisis — and continue to fail dismally. They cannot survive this failure.
Nor do they deserve to.
But the people of these countries DO deserve better. They have not created these conditions. Unlike the leaders in business and government (and other institutions), they love their children and respect Nature enough to protect them. But leaders and institutions are ready to sacrifice everything to satisfy personal (or institutional) greed and power lust.
We, the sane and caring people of Earth, must disengage ourselves from these failed and deadly governments, corporations, institutions, and behaviors.
We cannot afford to be Americans, or Chinese, or Russians, or whatever. We cannot be members of nations who are destroying the habitability of the planet. It’s time to choose between a toxic “patriotism” — and the lives of our children and the future of their planet.
For me, it’s an easy choice.
