The entire assumption is wrong. The existing systems cannot function in a sustainable way—markets and corporations and possibly even nation-states are incompatible with the Laws of Nature.

CO2 = Death

Nature doesn’t care about our excuses.

The sensible thing to do would be to immediately slash production by 50% or more. Produce ONLY what’s genuinely needed, mostly healthy food, shelter, medicine and the like.

We cannot use the planet itself as an inexhaustible supply of raw materials and a garbage dump. We cannot reduce human beings to Human Resources.

Both people and the Earth have inherent value. Money and markets and profits are inventions of the human mind and they are incompatible with human survival.

We need to value Life and Nature and not mere stuff. That’s fundamental. When we behave sensibly, we will have more than enough renewable energy because our appetite for useless commodified crap will be zero. As it should be.
