We don’t expect or need everyone to do better to make the world better

Perhaps the most tiresome argument for defeatism in the climate crisis is the claim that we need everyone to be aboard. We need to spend all of our time and effort building a bigger coalition by persuading those who aren’t convinced.

You know what? Getting even one person to change his/her/their mind is pretty damn hard. Haven’t you noticed?

This is the plan by those who want to change the world through the system — let’s persuade more people that the climate is deteriorating and get these new people to vote out bad leaders. That’s even the plan by revolutionaries — we need to throw out bad leaders but we don’t have enough people who care about the climate yet. We need to persuade more people to care.

We Need to Persuade Those Who Understand Reality That They Can and Must Take Action. We Have More Than Enough People Who Understand and Care.

I don’t believe any of it. First of all, I firmly believe that people are NOT as stupid as portrayed. Everyone seems to think HE is smart enough to understand the problem but OTHERS are too stupid.
