The most significant abdication of responsibility, probably in all history, are the "leaders" in the United States and elsewhere (China, India, Russia, much of Europe) who have failed dismally to slash the use of fossil fuels. Their actions, unchecked, will result in climate collapse, and a post-apocolyptic future for our children. Literally.

So, if we are doing triage and discussing things in order of importance, we should probably be focusing on getting leaders to quickly slash fossil fuel use, or resign in favor of someone who's competent and caring and responsible. This failure has been allowed to go on for decades, and we are nearing the point of no return.
