Our civilization rewards those who contribute the least and do the most to damage the Earth and ruin life for everyone. I call it the Demeritocracy.
We live in a demeritocracy, where the most incompetent, lazy, clueless and destructive people sit at the top of the pyramid and make all the decisions.
This has been true for a long time, but it has never been more obvious than today. Sometimes the elites are nice people, sometimes they are assholes (as they are today) but they are never the right people and we live under the wrong systems.
We must change everything from the roots. Our entire civilization is built on an unstable and, well, really stupid foundation. The foundation for this system is immoral and unsustainable: plutocracy and oil.
We can see where that has gotten us—deep into a crisis that could very well end in extinction. And yet, leaders everywhere are either willfully ignorant or oblivious to the crisis. They perhaps think they can get around it or finesse their way.
They can’t. They live on the planet Earth and the ecosphere of the entire planet—including whatever part they decide to flee to—is doomed unless we sharply and quickly reverse course.
The sane thing to do would be to take appropriate actions, end the abuse of both people and our planet, and…
