The ozone hole was caused by Freon and aerosols. We didn’t ask or expect people to unanimously quit using air conditioners and hair spray. That obviously would never have worked. Instead, Freon and hairspray was removed from the market and production ended. Then, the ozone hole began to fix itself.

It’s obvious that fossil fuel production must be quickly ended and clean energy offered instead. This is not by itself enough, but it’s a huge essential step we should take right now. We should have taken this step at least 35 years ago, but it’s too late for that now…
