Personally, I’d like to know exactly what is going on with The Great Resignation.
Is there really a Great Resignation at all? If so, what is the actual size and scope? What are the reasons people are resigning in record numbers? Which of those reasons are responsible for MOST of this phenomenon? Is the trend continuing? Slowing? Reversing?
I’ve seen many articles and comments about The Great Resignation. Most, and perhaps all, seem to be ideologically motivated. I get it. I have an ideology, too. I even have a guess about the nature and meaning of The Great Resignation.
But the fact is, my views are just a guess. I don’t know.
Nonetheless, I am able to see when people are projecting ideology as fact. For example, I exposed an article in The Atlantic which purports that there is no Great Resignation at all. I believe the author of that article was sincere, but believed a questionable poll (sponsored by the World Economic Forum — the wealthy Davos people) perhaps because HE himself thought that the whole thing was an invention of “Marxists.” (Yeah, he used the word Marxists…)
And others, closer to my view, rip into the cruelty of our form of capitalism as responsible. This may or may not be the case, but it seems to me this view (and others) is supported primarily by mere…
