The Trump appointed FBI chief lawfully executed a search warrant
Does Trump appoint his enemies to posts? If so, he only has himself to blame. He’s always angry at nearly all of his former (and some currently still serving) appointees. If he’s got a problem with those choices, can he at least take responsibility for making them?
In a word, “no.” Or in the words of the antithesis of Harry Truman in taking the exact opposite position from the buck stops here: “I take no responsibility whatsoever.”
Trump appointee Christopher Wray did his job properly as FBI director by carrying out a lawful search warrant to seek documents from Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-lago. A search warrant works like this:
A law enforcement officer (in this case, FBI agents) present a judge with information that establishes “probable cause” that evidence of a crime can be found at the location to be searched. This is along established procedure, with nothing special or legally questionable about it. Yes, it is not common for ex-presidents to be subject to a search warrant, but it’s not common for them to commit federal crimes either. When they do, ex-presidents like other law breakers, should be subject to prosecution if we actually have a system of laws and not men.
The Democrats or political enemies didn’t raid Mar-a-lago. A Trump appointee simply did his job the proper way. That’s a rare occurrence. His public service should be celebrated, not criticized.
