There’s a lot of racism among those who oppose immigration. They don’t get upset about Canadians—white people from the North. And THOSE people are relatively wealthy and well-educated and likely to take the good, well-paying jobs.

No. They are angry and fearful about the desperate brown people from the South, fleeing violence and poverty.

And the racists always use a word like “illegal immigrant” to deny that we are talking about people.

Let’s provide no cover. Let’s say back to them: “You don’t like brown people. Because you are talking about human beings as if they aren’t human beings. You need to be up front about this. Let’s have an honest conversation. This V isn’t about jobs or law. This is about race and fear.”
